Terms of Service
Effective date: 18 August 2026
By using pdf2md you agree to what follows. It is short because the service is small: there is no account, nothing is for sale, and your files never reach us.
What the service is
pdf2md converts a PDF into Markdown. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser; we provide the page and the converter, and your own machine does the work.
The service is free. There is no account to create, no subscription, no usage cap and nothing to buy. We may introduce paid capabilities in future — server-side OCR is the obvious one — but that would be a separate, clearly-labelled service, and nothing described here would start costing money.
Your content is yours
You keep every right in the documents you convert and in the Markdown that comes out. We claim nothing, because we never receive either: the conversion happens on your computer. Whether you have the right to convert a particular document is between you and whoever holds its copyright.
What we do not promise
Accuracy. Conversion is a best effort at recovering structure a PDF only implies. The limitations section on the home page lists what the converter cannot do and where it is known to be wrong — read it. Do not use the output for anything consequential without checking it against the original.
Availability. The site is provided as is. We may change it, break it, or take it down without notice, and we do not promise it will be reachable at any given moment.
Fitness for a purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Limits of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, or for anything that follows from relying on a conversion result. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the service, use it to process material you have no right to, or automate it in a way that degrades it for other people. There is no rate limit on conversion because conversion costs us nothing — please do not give us a reason to add one.
Third-party services
The page loads analytics from Microsoft Clarity. Their terms and privacy policy govern that processing; see our Cookie Policy for what it sets.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept them.
